Label Printer Not Printing - How to Fix Windows 10 Update KB5004945

After installing the June/July 2021 Windows 10 Security Update, users are unable to print using many brands of label printers. This issue has been happening with all models running any version of Windows 10 from “1H1, 20H2 and 2004 on both servers as well as personal computers (PCs). Microsoft is currently investigating this problem in hopes that a solution will be found soon for those encountering difficulties printing after updating their device's operating system.

Microsoft recently announced a vulnerability in Windows that could allow malicious software from the internet to access important information like passwords and credit card numbers.

This flaw was discovered by Microsoft’s own engineers who found it had been exploited for years without their knowledge! They have since released an initial workaround which is the recommendation of disabling the Windows Print Spooler service, however this will also disable printing on your computer as well.

Microsoft are developing a security update to address this issue, which they should hopefully resolve quickly.

You may have noticed a lot of issues with printing from your PC recently, especially after the recent Windows Update. The most common issue is that print jobs are sent but not actually printed and this can be attributed to one or more updates: KB5004945 (Issues for all brands), KB5004760, or KB 5003690.

Microsoft has issued a fix for Windows Update KB5004237, which was previously addressed in the "Know Issue Rollback" (KIR) on July 8th 2021. Fix updates were also included in a scheduled Windows update on July 13th called KB5004237 which resolves any outstanding issues with this issue affecting users.

Details on the July 13th update and which versions of Windows are affected are listed in the KB5004237 update history (Builds 19041.1110, 19042.1110, and 19043.1110).

To update Windows or see available updates, do the following on the bottom left-hand corner of your PC screen:
